There is a growing interest in learning analytics (LA) among not only researchers in Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) but also practitioners and education decision makers. In LA, information about learners and learning environment is used for modelling, prediction, and optimization of learning outcomes and processes. In developed countries, learning analytics has been integrated in education and it has proven successful in predicting learning outcomes. However, low and middle-income countries including Rwanda are lagging behind in this data driven improvement of education. This project aims at applying machine-learning techniques on student-generated data to predict students’ academic performance in Rwanda higher learning institutions.
