    Dr.Kabano H. Ignace is a senior lecturer of Demography and Statistics in the department of Applied Statistics, School of Economics, College of Business and Economics and is the head of training at the African Centre of Excellence in Data Science at the University of Rwanda. He holds a Msc in Demography from State University of Groningen and PhD in Demography from Utrecht in the Netherlands. He has completed a Training of Trainers (ToT) on Data Management with Software Application from Harvard University (USA). With 18 years in academia, he has taught numerous courses related to Demography, Statistics, Economics and research methodology in both Social and Data sciences. He is an expert on resettlement action plans and has consulted public and private institutions, international organizations and local NGOs.

  • Dr. Emmanuel Masabo Head of Research 250785239894

    Dr. Emmanuel Masabo is a Senior Lecturer in the computer and Software Engineering department, School of ICT, College of Science and Technology, University of Rwanda. He has mainly worked as academic staff since 2005. He also has two years’ experience in public institutions outside academia. He holds a PhD of Software Engineering from Makerere University, Uganda. He got a master’s of Engineering in Computer Application Technology from Central South University, Changsha-China in 2009. He also received a BSc in Computer Engineering and Information Technology from Kigali Institute of Science and technology (KIST). He published various papers in leading and international journals and conferences. His main research interests are Machine learning, Cyber-security, Big Data, Software Engineering, and IoT.

    Dr. Jennifer Batamuliza is the head of Data Driven Incubation Hub & short professional courses at African center of excellence Data science at University of Rwanda. Former Head of Software Engineering Department and IT lecturer in Information Technology Faculty at Adventist university of Central Africa (AUCA),she is also a teaching assistant at African Center of Excellence Data Science, University of Rwanda, where she teaches Machine learning and computation statistics course, Principles of data science and big data at Masters Level. She is the Vice President of Rwandan Association for Women in Science and Engineering (RAWISE).Founder & CEO RWA TECH HUB social enterprise that mentors and trains high school girls on Technology. She has PHD in Data science -Data Mining (IT). Graduated with a Master’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science and Technology from the University Of Electronics Science and Technology of China (UESTC) and also has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from University of Rwanda- College of Science and Technology former KIST. She is a DASCA certified Senior Big Data Analyst. She is a researcher and she has published many papers related to Technology in highly ranked journals such as IEEE Transactions on services computing and Information Security Journal: A global Perspective and she is a reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Services computing. She attended the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) program as 2019 Mandela Washington Fellow and did Leadership in Public Management at Arizona State University (ASU) in Arizona State, United States of America. Jennifer is now the Local Engagement Coordinator representing Rwanda in TechGirls program by US Embassy and US Government where she mentors and trains the TechGirls. Jennifer won the Science Leadership award 2022 for promoting girls and women in Science and Technology. The award was awarded to her on International Day for Women and girls in Science

    Mr. Nzaramyimana Charles: Admin Post Graduate Studies and Research at ACE-DS. He is a self-motivated and devoted worker with African multi-cultural background especially in the Great Lake Region (DRC, Rwanda and Burundi) and Est African Multicultural environment. Perfectionist and result-oriented with a humanistic attitude, Mr. Nzaramyimana is a quality education advocate and passionate gender sensitive person who has abilities in conflict resolutions and project Management. Familiar to Rwandan Higher Education environment, Mr Charles Nzaramyimana is aware of Rwandan Higher Education standards and has been trained nationally and regionally to academic quality assurance. Mr Charles Nzaramyimana has ability to work independently and with others. He has leadership skills in planning, coordinating, monitoring and evaluation as he occupied leadership positions while working with CARITAS Congo and UNFPA in their 3C project intervening on Community Resilience to prevent SGBV. Mr Nzaramyimana worked with The Global Hope Project from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in its Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation in Rwanda. He holds a Master of Education from the University of Eastern Africa Baraton (Kenya) which is a well-known University in Kenya for its research orientations and a bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology from the University of Rwanda.

    Mr.Elias MUTEZIMANA is Data Science Specialist at the African Centre of Excellence in Data Science, over his 10+ years of career, he has had a variety of roles for System Administration, Software development and Database Administration and data analytics in different institutions and projects. He is an active participant of Data Science Africa(DSA), a certified Senior Big Data Engineer(SBDE) and a certified Microsoft Azure Infrastructure professional. He has experience in designing, building, testing and maintaining complex data processing systems that work with large data sets for ML, AI and Computer Vision Workloads. He holds a master's degree in Data Science from the University of Rwanda and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering and Information Technology from Kigali Institute of Science and Technology. His research interests are based on Computer Vision,Natural Language Processing and Cybersecurity.

    Jean Damascene NIYITEGEKA has a Master’s Degree in Journalism and Media Studies from Mount Kenya University and a Bachelor’s Degree in journalism and Communication from National University of Rwanda He has 10 years of experience in strategic communications, media management, social media, content development and public campaign management. Prior to joining the ACEDS, NIYITEGEKA served as Information, Education and Communication Officer at National Women’s Council (NWC).
