With a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and collaborative partnerships, the University of Rwanda (UR)’s African Centre of Excellence in Data Science is poised to leverage data science for the betterment of its community and beyond.

The African Centre of Excellence in Data Science (ACE-DS) in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) have launched a project on automatic Road Traffic Crashes Data Management System to ensure evidence-based Road Safety (AutoRTC-DMS).

Building the right data talent starts when a person is still in school preparing to dive deeper into the data science profession. This is well grasped by both the African Centre of Excellence in Data Science (ACEDS) and Cenfri, which is implementing the Rwanda Economy Development Programme funded by the Mastercard Foundation.

The Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Edouard Ngirente challenged UR graduates to impact and transform lives in their respective communities. He said becoming the agents of positive change by upholding the ethical values acquired from University should be top among their ambitions. 

The first students who enrolled in five various Data Science programs being taught in partnership with the Data Science Council of America (DASCA) have completed their programs.  So far free candidates have successfully completed their course
