The University of Rwanda (UR) graduated 4,953 students in the Class of 2026, a 48 per cent drop from 9,526 in 2025 last year, as reforms extending some undergraduate programmes from three to four years affected the number of students completing their studies.Among the graduates, 68 are from the African Centre of Excellence in Data Science (ACEDS). They comprise 62 master’s and 6 PhD students.
The University of Rwanda in its African Centre of Excellence in Data Science (ACE-DS) in collaboration with 11 partners from Africa and Europe has secured funds under the project, “African National Public Health Institutes (NPHIs) Network for Training in Integrated Health Informatics and Data Science: Scaling Up Infectious Disease Modelling (EpiScientia Network)”

On 22 March 2026, a total of 23 PhD students professionals successfully completed a one week specialized training on “English for Academic Writing and Writing for Publication”, marking an important step toward strengthening research communication and scholarly output.
